Privacy

Privacy should be understandable.

Uploaded images

When you use an ImageCarpenter tool, your image is sent to the ImageCarpenter server only so the requested operation can be performed. The current service does not provide accounts, cloud libraries or permanent image storage.

Uploaded images and generated results are processed for the active request. ImageCarpenter does not intentionally save those image files into a persistent user library or database after processing.

Image metadata

Some tools may preserve embedded image metadata when you choose that option. The Remove Image Metadata tool is specifically designed to remove common embedded metadata such as EXIF, GPS, XMP and IPTC data.

QR codes and location tools

QR codes are generated in your browser. The text, URL, Wi-Fi details, contact information or other content used to create a QR code is not sent to the ImageCarpenter server for QR generation.

If you use the Location search feature, the place or address you type is sent directly from your browser to the public Photon geocoding service operated by Komoot so that matching places and coordinates can be returned. Photon uses OpenStreetMap data. Because this request goes to an external service, that service may also receive ordinary technical request information such as your IP address and browser request headers.

If you choose Use my current location, your browser will ask for location permission. When permission is granted, the browser supplies latitude and longitude to the page so the QR code can be created locally. ImageCarpenter does not intentionally send those current-location coordinates to Photon or to the ImageCarpenter server for QR generation. You can deny location permission and continue using place search or manual coordinates instead.

Technical information

Like most web services, the hosting infrastructure may process technical request information such as IP address, request time, requested URL, browser or user-agent information, response status and error information. This information may be used for security, troubleshooting and reliability.

Accounts, advertising and marketing

ImageCarpenter currently does not require user accounts and does not use uploaded images for advertising or marketing.

Changes

If ImageCarpenter later adds analytics, accounts, temporary background storage or other features that materially change how information is handled, this page will be updated to describe that behavior.
