Why some PNG files barely shrink
PNG compression depends heavily on the image. Flat graphics and repeated areas can compress well, while noisy photographs often do not. If a photographic PNG is still large, converting it to WebP or JPG can produce a much smaller file.
Transparency stays available
PNG supports transparent pixels, which makes it useful for logos, interface graphics and cut-out assets. The PNG compressor keeps the format rather than flattening the image onto a background.
